While the Ranger was probably the biggest news from Tudor at this year's BaselWorld show, it was the announcement of a new Heritage Black Bay that answered the prayers of more than a few would-be buyers. This new Black Bay is a new take on the 2011 release, but with a toned down look featuring a midnight blue bezel, and silver printing. This one is a killer.

At first glance, the new blue Black Bays are just that, Black Bays with blue bezels. And at the core of it, that's absolutely accurate. But, it wasn't just the bezel that Tudor decided to change here. The actual dial of this new Black Bay is no longer a warm, almost chocolate brown. Instead, it is a cold matte black.

Additionally, you will find the gilt lettering on the dial is now a muted silver color. The rose gold hands, hour surrounds, and gilt minute tracks have also been swapped out for white gold surrounds and silver print.

Further, like with the original Black Bay, you see a colored crown stem. Here it is, of course, a rich midnight blue that matches the bezel perfectly.

Again the blue Black Bay will be offered on three different strap options, but perhaps the most compelling is the woven pull-through style strap. Instead of the black strap from the original watch, you now have it in navy blue, and it's just beautiful.

The navy pull-through strap will come with the Black Bay whether you buy it on a bracelet, or on a vintage style blue leather strap. Here is a close up of the aged leather:

What's cool a bout this leather is that depending on the light, you really get totally different looks. In shade, it's a dark navy, but in bright light, the blue really comes out.

Here is a look at the blue leather strap on the wrist:

Of course, the other option for the Black Bay is the Tudor stainless steel bracelet which certainly has its fans. It makes this cool vintage looking watch a true modern diver that can take a beating.

While there are no technical differences between this blue Black Bay and the original burgundy watch, I have a feeling that many collectors will welcome this slightly more modern, muted color way. It really looks a lot like the blue Snowflakes we saw from the mid 70s's on.

The new Tudor Heritage Black Bay will be priced at $3,425 on the bracelet and $3,100 on the leather strap, exactly the same as the current model. It should be hitting the US very soon. In fact, we will be giving you the opportunity to be among the first to purchase this watch very soon. Until then, you can read more here.
